New York

New York offers their residents a tax credit, which helps to offset the cost of solar panel installation. They also have a rebate program that gives residents money back for every kilowatt-hour (kWh) of solar power they generate. Lastly, they offer a net metering program, which allows people with solar panels to sell excess electricity back to the government at market rates. These incentives are designed to make solar power more affordable and accessible for New Yorkers.

New Jersey

A well known program is the Solar Renewable Energy Certificate (SREC), which provides rebates for solar panel installations. The government also offers a property tax exemption, as well as a sales tax exemption. These incentives make it easier and more affordable for homeowners and businesses to go solar.
